Double Trouble - A Video

Double Trouble is Ruby's middle name and this little
video will show you why.  She get's me up early, usually about
5 and we go out for her morning business.. Then she eats, bites
and chews on everything in site and then crashes for
a 2 or 3 hour nap, which is when I get to sit at my computer
and do some things like this.

She likes to spend time in her crate when I'm doing things
like making the bed and getting ready in the bathroom.
As long as she can see me she's o.k.
Then she eats again, plays with her toys and runs full
speed around the kitchen/living room.  She eats 3 times a day
and then it's  time to "go  potty outside".  She's very smart and
I put a name on everything she does, like sit, roll over, etc.
After I repeat those words a few times she does them on command!!!
Then the whole routine repeats itself 3 more times
before we both crash about 8 pm. and call it a day...

Cute as a Button...

The Boston terrier is the 1st dog recognized by the AKC…
is a top choice for first-time dog owners, in large part because this
pup is low maintenance. He’s smart, curious and lovable,
and gets along well with children and families. This short-haired breed
requires only light grooming. The Boston terrier is not hypoallergenic,
but he also does not shed much.

After much research I then looked for a breeder in the
surrounding area and located one in Merced CA and we
arranged to meet halfway between their house and mine on
Saturday Jan 21st so my daughter Kristine and I headed

for the Best Western on March Lane in Stockton...

where I exchanged cash for signed paperwork and
my  new puppy, Ruby who is a Boston Terrier.
She is 8 weeks old and weighs 7 lbs.

I got the best end of the deal!!!

Kristine couldn't resist taking a "selfie" after we jumped

in the car. I sat in the back seat with Ruby to keep her company

which gave me an opportunity to take lots of close-ups.

These black-and-white dogs are both quiet and social.
They love to shower affection on
family and friends and even strangers. This gentle breed is not
prone to unnecessary barking when the moment strikes.
The Boston Terrier is a lively dog, but he doesn't have
excessive exercise requirements. Boston's are relatively inactive
indoors and well suited for apartment dwellers

or those who don't have a yard. He enjoys taking a walk
with you and playing in a yard, but is definitely
an indoor dog and should never be housed outside.

  As we approached my apartment

we stopped and posed for yet another photo.

We stopped for a moment to introduce Ruby to  Monk, my

38 year old stuffed monkey. (See blog 7/12/22 "Once upon a Monk")

Ruby wasn't sure if she liked my little back patio.

She seemed more interested in being picked up!

Kristine sat on the floor of my apartment to play
with Ruby and posed for one last photo before she headed home.

Then I spread out the new dog blanket the breeder had given
me and we "assumed the position" in front of
the TV in my recliner (which has become her favorite spot).

This photo shows you her brindle coloring... her Mother
was the traditional black & white and her dad was a fawn color.

Then it was time for Ruby to try out her new bed.   I almost
captioned this photo "The End", but it's actually the beginning of
our life together. And YES you got it, you'll be seeing more of Ruby!!!

Birds of a Feather...

IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING. . .

Birds of a feather flock together is an English proverb.

The meaning is that beings (typically humans) of similar type,

interest, personality, character, or other distinctive attributes tend to

mutually associate.  The idiom is sometimes spoken or

written where only the first part is given ("Birds of a feather")

and the second part ("...flock together") is implied,

This all got started because I was thinking about some interesting
bird photographs I've taken as Don and I
traveled here and there over the years.  And as usual
I did most of the layout work on my computer.

I had some spare grouped frames that use to hold photos of
the grandkids when they were young.  So I put "bird" photos
into an album on my desktop and that started the process.

Each framed horizontal and vertical 5" x 7" opening had a piece of
glass in it which meant I had to grab the non-streaking glass
cleaner and a lint free towel and clean both sides of the glass.
(These great ideas always have more "steps" than I initially
thought they would.)

I "drew" a 5" x 7" shape on a blank page on my computer
and "filled" it with a green background color.  Then I
imported the photo on top of the green colored paper,
added a drop shadow around the lower & right edge, then
created a "reflection" onto the lower green border.  WHEW!!!
(Remember to click on any photo for a larger view.)

Then with my level in hand, I pounded a couple of nails
in the wall for each large framed piece and

hung them on the wall next to my wonderful 25" monitor.
Now I get to enjoy the whole area by just glancing to the left
as I work at my computer desk!!!

It's been unseasonably cold in this part of CA.  Lows in
the low 30's and finally hit 50 for a high... with lots of rain.
Glad I had something fun to do inside.

Another Mixed Bag: Ruby + Flowers and other things...

Can you believe this weather for the Sacramento CA area in late JUNE???  Time to head outside. There were interesting vapor trails in a beau...
