Cute as a Button...

The Boston terrier is the 1st dog recognized by the AKC…
is a top choice for first-time dog owners, in large part because this
pup is low maintenance. He’s smart, curious and lovable,
and gets along well with children and families. This short-haired breed
requires only light grooming. The Boston terrier is not hypoallergenic,
but he also does not shed much.

After much research I then looked for a breeder in the
surrounding area and located one in Merced CA and we
arranged to meet halfway between their house and mine on
Saturday Jan 21st so my daughter Kristine and I headed

for the Best Western on March Lane in Stockton...

where I exchanged cash for signed paperwork and
my  new puppy, Ruby who is a Boston Terrier.
She is 8 weeks old and weighs 7 lbs.

I got the best end of the deal!!!

Kristine couldn't resist taking a "selfie" after we jumped

in the car. I sat in the back seat with Ruby to keep her company

which gave me an opportunity to take lots of close-ups.

These black-and-white dogs are both quiet and social.
They love to shower affection on
family and friends and even strangers. This gentle breed is not
prone to unnecessary barking when the moment strikes.
The Boston Terrier is a lively dog, but he doesn't have
excessive exercise requirements. Boston's are relatively inactive
indoors and well suited for apartment dwellers

or those who don't have a yard. He enjoys taking a walk
with you and playing in a yard, but is definitely
an indoor dog and should never be housed outside.

  As we approached my apartment

we stopped and posed for yet another photo.

We stopped for a moment to introduce Ruby to  Monk, my

38 year old stuffed monkey. (See blog 7/12/22 "Once upon a Monk")

Ruby wasn't sure if she liked my little back patio.

She seemed more interested in being picked up!

Kristine sat on the floor of my apartment to play
with Ruby and posed for one last photo before she headed home.

Then I spread out the new dog blanket the breeder had given
me and we "assumed the position" in front of
the TV in my recliner (which has become her favorite spot).

This photo shows you her brindle coloring... her Mother
was the traditional black & white and her dad was a fawn color.

Then it was time for Ruby to try out her new bed.   I almost
captioned this photo "The End", but it's actually the beginning of
our life together. And YES you got it, you'll be seeing more of Ruby!!!
