Folsom CA... A New Home

Catching up is hard to do since it's been over

a month since I've written based on the fact that

hubby Don passed suddenly from a massive heart attack

 about 4 & 1/2 weeks ago  and I came to Folsom to stay

with my daughter and son-in-law till I moved into

my new home.

After a family service at the Colfax CA cemetery where

many generations of Harvey's RIP,

we headed to Folsom for a family gathering.  My beautiful 

granddaughters Megan (l) from CO and Cassie (r) from CA piled

on my lap as they had often done whenever we all 

gathered.  After all the 3 of us are all July "babies".

After we had a few bourbon toasts to Don, family

members tried to decide who was the tallest...

Then it was time to move her "highness" from

Citrus Heights to Folsom...so I directed

 traffic as son-in-law Richard (in truck) and grandkids

Everett & Cassie loaded the moving van.

Staying with Kristine & Richard, in Folsom, added lots of joy to

 some very sad days.  Say hi to "Latte" my grandson Kenny's puppy dog,

and his family "brother" Toby, both of whom provided 

lots of entertainment all day long.

And if you said "walk" while putting on your tennis

shows, the boys were ready to GO!!!

Kristine & Richard share the cooking and one night we

had "Black Bean Burgers".  We all love the plant based diet!!! 

After a little movie time in the family room I'd head

upstairs for a good nights sleep.

Kenny's away at UC Santa Cruz, getting a degree in

Engineering, so I have a great room to sleep in with

my 38 year old "Monk" (who has been featured in a

prior blog) and Kenny's mascot from the Univ of California

at  Santa Cruz...  the Banana Slug.  They sit on the pillow 

and blab to each other all day.  No talking at night!!!

Don and I had selected a Senior Living community in

Folsom (independent living) to be close to family...

so I down-sized from a 2 bedroom  2 bath

 to a 1 bedroom 1 bath since Don had passed before we had 

moved in.  Everything is provided, including

all meals & weekly housekeeping.

That's my living room window and my outdoor patio

is in front of the window to the left.

And what's a patio without flower pots, chairs and a 

little garden art.  Remember to click on any photo for

After you check in at the front desk they will direct

you to my apartment...  Most residents have a little

decorative art by their front door so I brought the mosaic

stepping stone I made of our family dog  Rider along

to "guard the house".

I brought most of my existing furniture but needed

a new TV.  Richard stopped at Best Buy on the

way over and is shown here installing  

my new Samsung TV.

Then he had fun assembling my bookshelf.

Great having an engineer in the family who likes

to solve puzzles.

Things are starting to look like home...  Once the furniture

was in the proper place,

Kristine eyeballed the alignment of the small format framed 

tapestries I had woven from photos I had taken during our travels.

Looks good to me.

This is a view in the opposite direction which  shows

part of the kitchen and the island (with tools and gear

spread out) and an open door to the 

huge entry hall closet...

and a view to the front door with my Thanksgiving

 quilted  banner in place.  All 12 that I made were

featured in prior blogs.

Richard makes a final adjustment to the tapestries while

Kristine checks out the TV.

After they left, I checked out the new bedroom set that

I purchased at one of my favorite stores, Scandinavian Designs.

I love the contemporary style.
