One Thing After Another...

I started with the side living room door that leads to
my little patio and hired the maintenance man

to apply a frosted film to the inside of the door
for a little privacy.

By the time that job was finished, I was starving and went
to dinner.  Cliff on the right (who is almost 101) asked me to
join him and then Sally and David joined us.  Cliff stole the
show as he told us about his life in the US Military...

Then I ordered a fake fig plant to fill the space
beside the TV and found a wonderful pot that complimented
the colors in my area rug... thanks to Amazon!!!
(Remember to click on any photo for a larger view.)

Then my shoe rack arrived but needed a little
assembly, which I easily did by myself on
the kitchen island.  I only had 2 screwdrivers in
the kitchen drawer and luckily enough one had the
right size of a Phillips head...

Ah success.

Before the rack...

and after... even have room for a couple  more pairs of shoes!!!

The architecture of the interior of Prairie City Landing is
stunning from many angles,

and it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

The main lobby tree is about 14 feet tall

and smaller trees have filled various nooks and crannies,

while pine cones and boughs decorate the handrail
(only on one side of the staircase)!

And before I knew it, it was 3 p.m. and time for Happy Hour.
This foot was busy tapping to the beat

of the music of the accordion player who had just
gotten off his day job (construction) and raced over
to entertain us.

You'll definitely want to listen to this short video.  We
were fortunate that he played for over an hour for us...
tapping that toe the entire time.

The next day it was time for me to get out my Christmas
decorations and decide where they should go.  I started
with the dining room table,

and placed little cardboard packages that I made a number
of years ago on the placemat that I had woven many
years ago.

My Aunt Rosemary gave me this little linked chain of
paper snowmen about 35 years ago  and they have always
strutted their stuff amongst the wooden ducks on the top
shelf of the bookcase or my fireplace.

These round Christmas ornaments and square packages actually
have candles inside.  However, since we're not allowed to use candles in
our apartments I just set them out to decorate the glass
coffee table.

And this snowman  and friends snuggled up on the
glass end table to keep the glass swans company.

I smiled as I placed the Christmas Quilt Banner that
I made last year in the space next to the front door.
And I smile and wave back each time I look his way!!!

And last but not least I hung the beautiful "net" fabric
wreath made by my friend Margo, who winters in
AZ,  on my front door so everyone who walks
the hall will get to enjoy it too.

  1. Looks nice I have a white birch tree that I hang crystals from. The tree is fake and is up 365 days a year. So I call it my Christmas Tree during this time of year. Keeps the son and grandkids happy. Your apartment looks pretty large and the right size to keep nice and uncluttered. Take care miss you Linda Lou

Another Mixed Bag: Ruby + Flowers and other things...

Can you believe this weather for the Sacramento CA area in late JUNE???  Time to head outside. There were interesting vapor trails in a beau...
