Something To Do - Folsom Lake Geocaching

Not very welcoming...

However, today we were in search of a couple of geocaches...

This one was listed as a "large".  Just my type of geocache.
I hate those "micros".

To find it we we wandered thru a field of Lupines to get
to the coordinates.

As you can see the California Oak Trees in this area are huge.
The clue for this geocache was "fallen branch" and there were
many around this big tree.

WOW, now that's my size and easy to find...

This photo is included just to give you some perspective
on the size of the Oaks in this area near Folsom Lake.  Yes
that's our car.  When we purchased the car in 2019, the salesman
asked me what color I wanted and I said "Dirt"... He asked
if "Metallic Sandstone" would be o.k.   Well that was a
no brainer!!!

After driving a short distance we headed out a short trail
so Don could find the "Oldest Geocache" in the Sacramento area.

It is called "Granite Beek" (no that's not a typo)
and it was placed here 5/20 2001.  The clue was "cones"!!!

When we tapped "home" on the navigation system, this is what
we saw...  We opted not to launch our car

into  Folsom Lake, which is now 70% full.
In a prior post about 12 weeks ago,  it was only 25% full.
YIPPEE!!!   And the Sierra Nevada mountains
snow pack has not yet melted.

Can you believe this weather for the Sacramento CA area in late JUNE???  Time to head outside. There were interesting vapor trails in a beau...
