Catching Up... A Mixed Bag

Don tries out his new BBQ, which had just been delivered
 assembled by Home Depot.
(BBQ'd Bourbon Chicken was on the menu.)

And I always receive a box of candy on Valentines's Day...
a tradition at the Harvey House for 51 years.  And it had a
"what's inside each piece guide".  Didn't matter it was all delicious.

Our community Mardi Gras Parade

included many creative floats...

and participants tossed candy and beads out

to those who lined the streets and cheered them on.

Yesterday we headed for Tucson.   Of course Don stopped to find
 a couple of geocaches

along the way.  But geocaching wasn't our main objective for the day!!!

I had decided to sell my vintage Navajo Squash Blossom Necklace so
we went to the Medicine Man Gallery to deliver the piece and sign a
consignment agreement.  (A stunning gallery in case you're ever in Tucson.)

I had purchased the beautiful necklace in
Tombstone AZ in 1984  It was created by Ray Vandever of Pruitt NM
and features  his handmade, not cast, silver "blossoms", and
turquoise from the Lone Mtn Turquoise Mine in NV,  which
produces some of the world's top spiderweb Turquoise.

Mission accomplished so we headed  home as the afternoon

stormy skies highlighted the beautiful Catalina Mountains

mile after mile.

Doing Dirt

As soon as I finished digging in the dirt, Don said lets go for
a ride... I'm always ready for that.

Little did I know that was "code" for let's go geocaching.  As
it turned out, 3 new geocaches had just been placed not to far

from home.  When Don found the first one, this is what the log
"book" looked like.  "FTF" = first to find and the first stamped
signature was a guy with the handle "Dr. D"  Then cadon who is
Don!!!

Lots of interesting "dirt locations"

as we found all 3 new geocaches...

and looked for a couple more.

Then I wanted to check out a hiking trail to Wave Cave

which involved even more dirt, but the scenery was nice

especially if you cropped out the dirt road.  And I found
something to take home that got the back seat floor all dirty
because it wouldn't fit in the "back" of the car.

But it fit nicely as garden art in our back yard which delighted
my "dancing" egret as it gave him something interesting
to look at while dancing.    In case you don't recognize it,
it is the remains

of a Cholla Cactus, which is  native to Mexico
and the southwestern US,  and  looks like this when it is alive and well.

As it starts to die  you can see it's  cylindrical stem formation
more clearly and when all the sharp thorns are gone they
often end up as garden "art".

Another Mixed Bag: Ruby + Flowers and other things...

Can you believe this weather for the Sacramento CA area in late JUNE???  Time to head outside. There were interesting vapor trails in a beau...
