Don really didn't want to go to Home Depot yesterday, but I told him
just think of it as my kind of geocaching; driving,
wandering, looking & finding exactly what I was looking for.
All I needed was one pot which would be perfect in front
of the carport column.
And that caused this California Flashback. (View from my kitchen window.)
Each spring, when I announced I was going to the nursery, he would
just groan because I had more than one pot to fill.
(Remember you can click on any photo for a closer look.)
Pictures are worth a thousand words...
I always needed things to fill my pots to go with
the planted perennials...
Looking back at the house from the deck.
These Tiger Lilies grow wild in the foothills where we
lived. And a very small plant is hard to get out of the
ground because of its long tap root and if you don't get the
whole root they will just die. I managed to get a
few transplanted in the garden
and they put on a show for months. However, the deer love them so
I had to place wire fences around them each spring.
Worth the effort don't you think?
And every garden needs perennials like Naked Ladies
that magically appear each spring...
like other visitors
who would check out the garden art and then
encourage the young ones to drink while the rubber ducks
swam around because ducks don't bite!!!
