Phoenix, Arizona, experienced its hottest month on record in July 2020
with 99 degrees Fahrenheit as the city's average temperature.
The new record outpaced the 98.3-degree average temperature
recorded in July 2009 and again in August 2011.

B can also be for Beautiful... if you get up early enough you can enjoy the sunrise.
B is also for Baby Bunny... This little cotton tail hopped up the rocky bank between the
path and the area where we were sitting out back having breakfast.
"Hey wait a minute - I thought I was alone. I better
get out of here."
"Boy that was scary... but I feel better now that I'm down here."
B also stands for Baby Bird. This one couldn't even fly yet and was
only about 3". When I got down low and poked my camera near
him, he made one small hop (about an inch) away from me. His parents
were close by the entire time. I checked my Birds of Arizona Field Guide
but wasn't successful in identifying them.
As many of you know, July brought all-time records for some other major
cities across the eastern U.S., such as Washington D.C. and Philadelphia,
both of which broke daily records throughout the month. More than
two dozen of these record-breaking locations not only saw
their warmest July on record, but also made it through
their warmest month ever recorded.
Since Phoenix looks like this for the next 8 days, it's time
to get out of town so we're heading for Prescott tomorrow
where the low will be 62 and the high 89. Yippee...
Stay tuned for "The Great Escape to Prescott"
on my next blog.
